One Step at a Time Elegance Renewed
We have perfected a step-by-step restoration process that transforms even the most worn wire wheel to its former glory. (The following steps are applicable to full restorations only; they are not applicable to our rebuilding service.)
| Step 1 |
A complete wheel analysis
notes the degree of rim straightness,
hub wear and metal deterioration. We
notify you, before any work is done,
if your wheels are unable to be restored
to original specifications or if extra
costs are necessary to complete the
project. |
| Step 2 |
Wheel information such
as type, size, spoke pattern, offset,
and spoke and nipple sizes are recorded.
All parts are then labeled to ensure
proper identification throughout the
restoration process. |
| Step 3 |
A stripping process removes
all paint, chrome and fillers. Then,
the wheel is completely disassembled
and examined for further flaws and metal
fatigue. |
| Step 4 |
Cracked or thin areas
on the rim are welded. Pits from rust
and corrosion are filled and sanded.
Finally, bent or dented portions of
the rim are straightened. |
| Step 5 |
We manufacture spokes
as close to the original specification
as possible in our own plant. Spokes
are available in plain or chrome plated
carbon steel or polished stainless steel. |
| Step 6 |
The rim, hub, lock rings,
nuts and weight covers are hand polished
to a mirror bright finish. In preparation
for painting, a 180 grit finish is used.
Show quality wheels receive extra attention
to achieve a 100 point appearance. |
| Step 7 |
Our enhanced plating process
applies four layers of nickel and chrome
to the wheel components for a bright
durable finish, even in recessed areas.
All plated parts meet auto exterior
specifications ASTM-B456-SC4. |
| Step 8 |
The spokes are carefully
laced by hand and inspected for quality. |
| Step 9 |
The wheel is checked for
alignment in both lateral and radial
directions. Finally, all spokes are
precision-tightened to a uniform tension. |
| Step 10 |
Wheels to be painted are
hand sanded and several coats of primer
are applied. The wheel is then painted
with four coats of enamel which contains
an advanced hardener to protect against
stone chips and corrosion. Wheels requiring
a show finish receive additional attention
to achieve a glass-like finish. |
| Step 11 |
Once the restoration process
is complete, all wheels undergo a final
inspection and cleaning before shipment
to you.
